Planned Giving

Create a lasting impact and maximize your giving

You don’t have to be a millionaire to create a lasting impact. There are many ways to plan your giving to suit your own personal circumstances. Please consider these ways of maximizing your gift to the Open Medicine Foundation, and helping to improve the lives of millions of people with ME/CFS and related chronic complex diseases.

When identifying Open Medicine Foundation in your legal documents, please use our full name, Open Medicine Foundation, Inc.

A Gift in Your Will or Trust

You can name the Open Medicine Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or trust. This is commonly known as a charitable bequest. There are many ways you can maximize your legacy. You can leave a specific dollar amount, a designated percentage of your estate or a piece of property. Please consider including OMF as a part of your legacy gift plan.

A Beneficiary Gift of Life Insurance

You can name the Open Medicine Foundation as the sole or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy. You can use an existing policy that you or your family no longer need, or can purchase a new one specifically to meet your legacy gift plan.

A Gift From Your IRA Charitable Rollover

People aged 70½ and older may now donate up to $100,000 per year to a charitable organization directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) without having to pay income tax on the money. The IRS has made this a permanent option for IRA holders. If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement. Please consider donating to OMF directly from your IRA.

A Gift From Your Retirement Funds or IRAs

You’ve worked hard and planned for retirement. Now, with a little creativity, you can leverage your retirement assets to benefit you and your family, reduce taxes, and support the Open Medicine Foundation into the future. You can designate the Open Medicine Foundation as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your retirement fund or IRA.
