We collect: name, address, telephone number, email address, payment information for current transactions only, information you wish to share including tributes (in honor or memory of), email comments, demographic information such as age, gender, relationship to the diseases we are studying, information you provide when you submit an application for employment, internship, or volunteer opportunities, and information you choose to provide when you request information or contact us directly.
We collect personal information when you register for our news, donate, register for events, complete surveys, volunteer, contact us by e-mail or post content on our social media sites. The information we collect is used to provide you with information about our research and programs. We generally respond to requests via email, social media private message and on occasion through postal mail service, telephone or Skype.
How Information is Used
OMF uses your information to understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, communicate back to you, and update you on OMF happenings.
Payment processing is done through a secure-third party vendor. Credit card numbers are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for other purposes. We do not store credit card numbers except for the last 4 digits.
We use the comments you offer to provide you with information requested, and we take each recommendation seriously as to how we might improve communications. We may use your personal information to contact and communicate with you.
No Sharing of Personal Information
OMF will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to any other organization. We assure you that the identity of all our donors and constituents will be kept confidential. Use of personal information will be limited to the internal purposes of OMF and only to further the activities and purposes of OMF.
We will send information related to OMF, our programs, events, and general communications if you have opted-in to receive these communications. If you have opted-out of receiving communications, you will continue to receive transactional communications related to your personal donations or tributes only.
Social Media Marketing
We may participate in Facebook’s ‘Custom Audience’ program which enables us to display ads to our existing supporters and ‘look alike’ audiences when they visit Facebook. We provide your email address to Facebook, so they can determine whether you are a registered account holder with them. Our ads may then appear when you access Facebook. We may also track Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. An IP address is a number that can identify an Internet Service Provider and country location. It cannot provide other personal information. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our computer server, and to administer our Online Platforms. Your IP address is used to help identify you but does not contain Personal Information about you. We can use IP addresses as identifying the source and volume of traffic on our website, so we can allocate resources to servers/networks in different regions. We also use IP address security filters to prevent known blacklisted IP addresses from accessing the site.
A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard drive. Cookies contain information, including personal information, that may be used to tell us about your site visit and can later be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. The information that cookies collect includes the date and time of your visit, the pages you look at on this site, the site you visited just before coming to this site, the name of your internet service provider, your registration information, session identification number and your navigational history and preferences. The information from a cookie identifies if a user has previously signed up for our newsletter or other marketing campaign, so you don’t receive popovers if you’ve already signed up or dismissed the notification.

All materials shared with OMF – such as personal stories, poems, lyrics, comments, photographs, drawings, or any other work by donors and volunteers becomes the property of OMF and is subject to the same copyright laws. You may request that your name be withheld to protect your privacy.
While we do not actively collect personal information from minors without parental consent, we appreciate that our supporters are all ages. When we become aware we are contacted by a minor, we will always ask for consent from a parent or guardian to collect information about children, before contacting children, and before using a child’s name or image
We may link to websites who are corporate sponsors or third-party content providers, that have different privacy policies and practices from those disclosed here. We assume no responsibility for the policies or practices of such linked sites and encourage you to become acquainted with them prior to use.
How Long Will We Keep Your Information
We will maintain a record of your personal information in our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity. If you ask to opt out of our communications, we may continue to maintain a record of your information to enable us to comply with your request not to be contacted by us. We will maintain a record of all donations indefinitely.
